Origin

The innovation behind the company name ‘Thespis’ derives from an individual known as Thespis of Icaria who is claimed to be the first person to have appeared and performed on stage as an actor. The history of Thespis dates back to 6th century BC in Ancient Greece. Thespis is believed to have innovated a new style of story telling by communicating in first person, through acting and singing and dancing; it is believed that up until this point stories were expressed in third person narrative only.
